IWS Press Corp

The International Women’s Sport Press Corp is an ad hock task force founded in Barcelona at the first Women’s America’s Cup in October 2024 by veteran journalists, broadcasters and producers who recognized a need for journalists traveling to foreign countries to be provided local area support while they are on assignment, that is independent of the media center support provided by a race.

IWS Press Corp members may receive a place to offer and receive hospitality, introductions to archivists from private libraries and institutions as well as opportunities to learn about the organizations that support women in sport and their families at anywhere along the path from novice to professional competition levels.

Membership is by invitation only and is in 4 categories:

  • Founders: Those who joined IWS Press Corp and contributed the initial standards, ethics and resources from their countries of origin.
  • Members: Professional journalists, producers and broadcasters who have education, experience and have contributed a significant body of work to the field.
  • Mentors: Those willing to mentor new and emerging journalists, producers and broadcasters.
  • Interns: representing official partnerships with ongoing educational curriculum in the pubic and private school system and mentors who are members of IWS Press Corp.

IWS Press Corp Partnerships

IWS Press Corp Partnerships take many forms, but are often with Yacht Clubs, Country Clubs, City Clubs and other private non-profit organizations that are actively promoting and supporting women in sport and who may also be collaborating with the public sector to improve the environment, waterways, ocean and to support marine and wild life. These clubs extend their hospitality and assistance to members of the IWS Press Corp who are visiting their locale, through a formal process involving letters of Introduction.

IWS Press Corp has pilot programs in San Francisco, London, Barcelona and Paris that identify Yacht Clubs, Private Clubs and Associations who have a tradition of actively promoting women in sports and providing support to their families and mentors through formal and informal means and have offered to be of assistance to the press.
